Maggie Grace is an American actress who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her best-known roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character on ABC's Lost series as well as Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Following the divorce of her parents, she left Worthington, Ohio to live at Los Angeles. She was struggling to get by and was offered her first acting role as Rachel's Room's main character. The television film Murder in Greenwich, in which she portrayed 15-year-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination of a Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford's character in Lost from 2004 to 2005 was selected for a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace left the show in order to concentrate on her film career. She had appeared alongside Tom Welling opposite in The Fog back in 2005. She also appeared as a character in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and also, as Liam Neeson's Kim Mills as Kim Mills for Taken. The actress reprised her character in Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern version from the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to the character as Shannon in two episodes of Lost as well as the show's finale. In 2013, she appeared in the sixth season of Californication. She portrays Faith who is both the star-gazer and a socialite. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. She is part of Gyllenhaal's family, and is the older sibling of Jake Gyllenhaal. She began her career in the teen years with minor appearances in her father's films and appeared together with her brother in popular cult film Donnie Darko (2001). Later, she was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was nominated to win an Golden Globe Award in both the drama Sherrybaby (2005) as well as the romantic comedy Secretary (2002). The two films were critically acclaimed. She had several films that were commercially successful, including World Trade Center. However it was her performance as Rachel Dawes that brought her greater attention for her performance in The Dark Knight (2008). In the film, her performance as Crazy Heart as a mother with a single child was nominated for an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. She then appeared in dramas and comedies, including Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012 Apart from her character as a Secret Service agent, she has also appeared in White House Down (2013) as well as Frank (2014). Her latest roles included as the main character of the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). In 2021 Gyllenhaal was able to make her writing and directing debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she received The Lost Daughter the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
